Placements: Hong Kong

Our placement schemes provide fantastic opportunities to gain experience in a top legal firm and to find out more about Clyde & Co first hand.

You'll get to know us a lot better, and we'll also get to know you - it's a great way of making a strong impression on us if you are thinking about applying for a training contract at Clyde & Co.

Hong Kong

Within our Hong Kong office, we offer summer and winter placement opportunities.

The programmes provide an opportunity for penultimate year students to spend three weeks at Clyde & Co undertaking a variety of work and to experience the very real differences between academic study and legal practice.

What experience will you get?

During the placement, you'll be assigned to an experienced lawyer who will act as your mentor. You'll have the opportunity to assist lawyers in handling work from across the different practice areas of our firm and gain real-life experience of commercial law in practice.

For example, you may be required to:

  • draft documents
  • attend trials and meetings
  • liaise with witnesses/clients
  • research particular areas of law.

You'll work as part of a team where you'll have the opportunity to use many of the skills which we believe are essential to the role of a solicitor at Clyde & Co, such as analysis, teamworking, report writing, interviewing witnesses, carrying out research and dealing with clients.

When should you apply?

Applications for our 2012 summer placement programme (June to September) should reach us by the end of February 2012.

Applications for our 2012/13 winter placement programme (December to February) should reach us by the end of August 2012.
